In recent times the company I work for full time sent me and my colleague down to Durban to fix a problem at a client over a three-day period, opening up a chance for a Photography Self-Challenge.

On this trip we decided to take our cameras with us for our afterhours fun and enjoyment as well as a general method of expanding our abilities. On this trip we decided to limit the equipment that we carried with us, including leaving tripods at home.

This decision for one part created a dilemma which I have covered in a different Blog article. But now onto the primary purpose.

I decided that I would only use my Canon 70-200mm lens and do street photography and possibly texture / abstract photography which are both way off what I am normally used to doing nowadays, an interesting Photography Self-Challenge.

We spent three days doing after hours shooting at various locations, the first was on the Durban North Beachfront walkway. The weather was terrible and totally overcast but I just loved taking photos within these conditions.

The second day we did the walkway again with a slight deviation away from the walkway, still with the same weather conditions. It is interesting how a photographer needs to keep his eyes open and willing to deviate to get those amazing shots he so desires.

The third day we decided to move down to the Ushaka area, but the rain put a huge damper on this making us eventually move onto a marine museum for our final set of photos after taking a few photos at the Ushaka area.

Within the little time we spent doing photos, I was still able to get a substantial amount of really good photos.
