We had the privilege of capturing the lovely wedding of Kunan & Shari-Lee at Makiti Wedding Venue.

Makiti Wedding Venue

This location has multiple venues locations to be able to cater for multiple events at the same time.

Proceedings

All aspects of the wedding proceedings occurred at this venue. From the getting ready to the ceremony, photo shoots and reception.

Most of us photographers love using the venue for all our photos of weddings as it minimizes travelling and missing great photo opportunities.

We initially rigged up most of our reception strobe stands, and double checked our strobes.

Bride

We then went down to the room where the bride was getting her makeup done. Looking around this room I found a section outside with a plain wall and seating place for the makeup photos.

I was fascinated by the way the makeup artist slowly layered the makeup, proving him to be a brilliant artist.

The bride then moved over to another room closer to the ceremony building to get dressed.

Groom

While the bride was getting ready, we went to a different set of rooms to capture the various groom photos. We decided to capture all the groom and groomsman photos outdoors.

Further down the road we also took the groom and groomsman for walking photos etc.

Bride Continued

We were now able to capture photos of the rings, dresses, etc. I was now able to capture a few photos of the bride in the mirror, plus a few other photos within the room.

Moving outdoors we were able to capture more photos of the bride as well as photos of the bride maids.

Ceremony at Makiti Wedding Venue

The Sunset Chapel is right next door to the Sunset Venue with a fully covered section in between. Both us photographers positioned ourselves at different spots in the ceremony area for different photos. My partner went up front and I went into the isle. We captured the bridal party, ceremony details etc.

Reception Details

While the pastor was preaching, I quietly went over to the reception area to capture the reception details. This while my partner was ready to capture any further ceremony details.

Ceremony Continued

I was now able to capture the main section of the ceremony. We photographers should always make sure that we check with the pastor for any of the specific requirements.

Family Photos

The family photos were now captured by us. Due to rain we had to move the photo capturing to under a balcony.

Reception at Makiti Wedding Venue

Capturing of the various reception type photos now occurred. This included the dance photos, cake cutting photos, gator retrieval and throwing, bouquet throwing. We also captured the guests having fun, the speeches etc.

I prefer to use multiple placed strobes, with an on-camera flash that uses a flash diffuser. My ISO is also set at about 800. This prevents the general yellow ambient appearance. It also highlights more of the environment.

Couple Shoot in the Makiti Wedding Venue grounds

Due to rain we had to leave the couple shoot into mostly the evening. Even then we were able to capture amazing photos of the couple, due to us having good equipment for this.

The venue has some lovely ponds, gazebos, a small pier, gardens, lawn areas, etc.
