We have on numerous occasions had the privilege to capture various events etc. at the amazing natural adventure park Hobby Park Krugersdorp. To such an extent that it has become one of my favorite haunts. But lately I have become so busy as to not been able to get there too often.

4*4

Initially I started capturing 4*4 action only. But then I saw the potential of capturing multiple other type of photo shoots in the future. In recent times I have been able to make the other type shoots possible. I have to thank some of my friends and some really lovely clients of mine.

Event Types at Hobby Park

We have found that Hobby Park Krugersdorp has so much going for it. 4*4 routes, mountain biking, fishing, camping, trail running, obstacle courses, hiking. Interesting views of Ruimsig, Pinehaven have been observed by me from the top of the mountain. These can be observer if you are willing to drive your 4*4 to that side of the venue, which I need to beg a lift for.

There has also been a few night drives organized by the venue some of which I had the pleasure of attending a few of.

Venue Description

I have seen three dams, two small forest like areas, a swamp, African bush areas plus many other lovely areas. All these areas have pathways, small wood bridges, some stone building ruins and other things for us to enjoy. Our photographic possibilities are endless. We have not even started making small inroads into the usage of some of the possibilities.

Events at Hobby Park Krugersdorp

Events I have seen that have occurred at this venue range from Bridgestone 4*4 days, various Jeep days, Silverstar Mountain Biking challenges. I have also seen the Jeep Warrior Obstacle Course Races, Large paintball events like Sputnik, Paintfest etc.

Facilities

Hobby Park Krugersdorp also has a kitchen making food for their guests as well as a licensed fully equipped bar, which I have enjoyed. They also have a small hall for a number of other type functions, some of which I have attended.

Our main aim of this first article about this venue is to cover family and portrait shoots done at this venue. Many more of our articles to come.

Photography Shoots

We have been very privileged to do a few Portrait shoots as well as a family / friends shoot at Hobby Park Krugersdorp. A birthday party was captured by us at this venue.

We find that the venue lends itself extremely well to portrait shoots. There is so many areas and perspectives to choose from for us. It would be totally impossible to cover more than a few in one shoot by us. We currently have only used one of the small dams, the main dam, the first sort of forest and one of the bush areas.

We would love to cover some of the other areas. But we will have to make sure that the clients are prepared to walk with the possibility of getting dirty. Also, some areas can only be accessed by a 4*4 which we don’t own.

We have used smoke grenades for two of our shoots, both in the first sort of forest. These shoots came out amazing. The bridge over the dam also gives some amazing shots as well.

On the family shoot we also had the privilege of taken photos of their 4*4 action in their amazing Jeeps. In this type of shoot you have to be prepared to get very dirty. I was full of mud at one of the 4*4 sections, but got some amazing photos from it.

This is one venue that we strongly recommend that you use. Their prices are very reasonable and the owner is always helpful.
